Our most frequently asked question over the years has been: When is the best time to see dolphins? The answer is: In the morning! Dolphins are seen much more frequently in the morning because of their commuting patterns and the calmer conditions. Especially in the summer months the evenings are generally much more windy, there are greater chances of thunderstorms, it can be very hot and usually more boat traffic on the water. All of these things make it more challenging to navigate, enjoy and spot dolphins. The mornings offer a more calm atmosphere when dolphins tend to be commuting and feeding more frequently.
We launch our kayak dolphin tours into the beautiful Lynnhaven Bay via Crab Creek. We paddle in mostly calm water with sometimes just a little slight turbulence. There are no waves in this area. Once we launch we are immersed into the natural surroundings of the tidal salt marsh, the maritime forest and the Chesapeake Bay. We can see dolphins at any moment. Atlantic bottlenose dolphins are wild and free but we see them very frequently. We always try to optimize our chances of seeing dolphins by adjusting the routes we take based on conditions. We have seen bottlenose dolphins, bald eagles, osprey, whales, sea turtles, sting rays, pelicans, foxes, herons, egrets and much more! We share detailed history of the Chesapean Native Americans that once paddled these same waters, the history of the English settlers and fun facts of the uniqueness of this ecosystem.

We have been watching dolphins and kayaking with dolphins since we were kids and started out bringing our friends and family along to share the incredible wildlife and dolphin experiences we were having. Since we began doing dolphin tours nearly a decade ago we realized that seeing the joy and awe on our our guests faces watching dolphins from their kayak is way better than watching dolphins from our kayaks alone.
